Happy Monday, everyone! I filmed this video last Friday but, as suspected, didn't get a chance to upload it until today. This video addresses the notion that Black women addressing and uplifting each other specifically is somehow 'wrong,' 'reverse racist,' or 'exclusive,' even though we are living in a society where historically Black women have been viewed as less than both Black men as well as white women. As both Black and female, we have a unique struggle against both sexism and racism. There are certain aspects of being a Black woman that other races and genders just will not comprehend, and Black women and girls should be able to speak to other Black women and girls SPECIFICALLY. THAT IS OKAY. What is not okay is the idea that speaking directly to one another and attempting to uplift one another specifically is wrong, and that we should go out of our way to include others in combating a struggle that is unique to us. The white feminist, 'WE ARE ALL WOMEN' perspective is not the end all and be all of feminism. As always, thanks for watching.
