Camino De Santiago 2025 - Day 10 - Santo Domingo de la Calzada to Belorado

Woken up by our wonderful friend Siro early in the morning, poor Clare got smacked by his backpack as he was walking out the door. It was a beautiful sunrise to wake up to, pink and orange skies all around. Clare, Andrew, Mom, and I departed and headed west for Belorado! Paul was waiting for us at the edge of town and hiked with us for part of the day as well. Today had some amazing prairie looking views, with mountains off in the distance. We saw so many sunflower fields today! I thought we had missed the season but they were in full bloom everywhere! Had snacks along the way, it got toasty for a little while and then pretty windy, like a dry air that we breathed in. I had some sort of cold so was sniffling and stuffed up for most of the day. When we made it into Belorado, Clare, Mom, and I stayed at Cuatro Cantones, and loved it! Only $15 euros each or so, we decided to do the pilgrims meal which turned out to be pretty good for what it was. But they had these cool globes people could sleep in, and best of all.... a pool! The pool felt so amazing and that is where I met my new spaniard friend, Elvira. Clare and I went out to explore the town after a beautiful sunset and it happened to be the annual festival for the town of Belorado. Everyone was out, all the friend groups where their own type of uniform or crazy clothes so you can see each group by what they are wearing, then they had dances and a Miss Belorado, that was the judge it seemed for the boys dancing for her. It was so fun to watch! Went out and watched the stars at night and then hit the sack! They were sounding their trumpets, parading the streets all night long, the last I heard them was about 4:15am. . 14.81 miles 23.84 kilometers 1,195 feet elevation gain 5 hours 3 minutes .
