Chapter 55 – Luang Prabang Laos – Day3 - PART 2 After returning from the alms-giving ceremony shown in Part 1, I had a delightful breakfast, on the banks of the Mekong River. The resort manager, ‘Nee’ arranged a private tour of my local points of interest. I met up with the guide ‘Voan’, and climbed aboard the SUV. We drove out of town, through verdant jungles, to our first stop, a small beautiful roadside temple, with its many highly decorated gold towers. There were various statues, a Buddha, and many colourful decorations. Onwards to the KuangXi Waterfalls, which had some rather fanciful murals at the entrance to promote the attraction. I visited the ‘Bears of the World’ exhibit and saw the Moon Bears. Then walked through the rainforest to view the falls. Rather than one giant waterfall, the falls are a series of smaller cascades. After the waterfalls, we moved on to the Luang Prabang Elephant Camp, where I fed the elephants some snacks. After visiting the elephants, we drove to the Laos Buffalo Dairy, which offered a wide selection of ice creams and milkshakes, in various flavours, made from Buffalo milk. We returned to the resort to enjoy the sunset over the river, before eating another tasty dinner.
