Episode 1296 Hilda (Jean Alexander) sees the “dark man” in Stan’s (Bernard Youens) teacup again. Len (Peter Adamson) and Rita (Barbara Knox) start looking for paperboys at The Kabin. Jerry (Graham Haberfield) invites Mavis (Thelma Barlow) over to watch television. Jerry grows fed up with the untidiness, noise, and laziness from Len and Ray (Neville Buswell). Minnie (Margot Bryant) is extremely hurt when Glyn (Alan David) tells her off for distracting Betty (Betty Driver) with her conversation. Albert (Jack Howarth) complains about the small selection of books available at The Kabin. Lucille (Jennifer Moss) hands Stan the football pools money to give to Ray. Lucille isn’t happy to find Minnie upset and confronts Glyn about the way he treated her, but he suggests to Lucille that Annie (Doris Speed) encouraged bad habits. Jerry asks Len and Ray to give him an evening alone at No.9 so he can entertain Mavis. Rita refuses to get up at 5:30 a.m. to do the papers and insists Len do it instead. Ray calls to collect the pools money, but Stan doesn’t hand it over. Betty warns Lucille that Glyn is starting to get too comfortable at the Rovers.
