Sourdough Starter with All-Purpose Flour | Day 2 (Nothing Happening Yet — That’s Normal) Good morning. Today is Day 2 of starting a sourdough starter using all-purpose flour. I am designing this series specifically for the beginner. This feeding is very similar to Day 1, with one small adjustment. Yesterday the starter was a little wetter than intended, so today I reduced the water slightly and added a touch more flour to balance the texture. I’m working primarily in grams, but I show Imperial measurements as well so you can follow along using whichever method you’re most comfortable with. Sourdough does not need to be exact — equal amounts of flour and water, adjusted by feel, is the goal. Day 2 notes: • No visible activity yet — this is completely normal • Starter is still early in the process • Morning feed, paired with coffee, makes it easier to remember Feeding amounts used today: • Flour: approximately 14 grams (A Tablespoon and a smidge) • Water: approximately 11 millilitres (Just under a Tablespoon) The starter is kept in a draft-free, slightly warmer spot near the fridge, where temperatures stay more stable during winter. This video is part of a day-by-day sourdough starter series using all-purpose flour. The full playlist is linked below, and I’ll continue updating daily. Thanks for watching, and I’ll see you tomorrow.
