Soft Maize Meal Porridge Recipe Ingredients 200g maize meal (about 1 cup) 500ml water (for boiling, about 2 cups) Additional cold water (about 1 cup for mixing) Pinch of salt (optional) Butter, sugar, and milk or your favorite toppings (see below) Directions 1. In a medium pot, bring 500ml (2 cups) of water to a rapid boil. 2. While the water is heating, mix maize meal with about 1 cup of cold water in a separate bowl to make a smooth paste—no lumps!. 3. Once the water is boiling, lower the heat and slowly pour the maize meal paste into the pot, stirring constantly. 4. Continue stirring until the mixture thickens and starts to pop or bubble. 5. Cover the pot and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it’s soft and fully cooked. 6. Serve hot with any of these toppings: Butter, sugar, and milk for a classic taste Vinegar and sugar for a tangy twist Peanut butter and sugar for a nutty flavor Or anything else you like
