I know this was my first time ever using the Leki Micro Trail Pro Trekking Poles, but truly, it's pretty easy to see that the build quality is amazing. These poles are easy to assemble and collapse back down. Once I get a little more use to the Leki Micro Trail Pro Trekking Poles, I should be able to assemble and disassemble in ten seconds or so, both sides. The folding poles technology is impressive on the Leki Micro Trail Pro Trekking Poles. In addition, the weight of these things is almost non-existent while you are running with them. I did notice a little bit of extra weight when I put the Leki Micro Trail Pro Trekking Poles on to the front of my Raidlight vest. Talk about easy placement for the Leki Micro Trail Pro Trekking Poles, on to the front of my Raidlight running vest. I was amazed at how easy it was to disassemble the Leki Micro Trail Pro Trekking Poles in the middle of the run, and then place on the front of the Raidlight ultrarunning vest. This was my FIRST time ever, after 21 years of running, that I went for a run with poles in hand. I have never done a long run, or any running race, with poles in hand. Frankly, I think this step in running gear could be a game changer for me. The Leki Micro Trail Pro Trekking Poles also have a feature that I have not seen advertised with other trekking pole companies, like Black Diamond or Ultimate Direct trekking poles, and that is the Active Strap with the Trigger Shark 2.0 technology. Basically, you put these lightweight gloves on at the beginning of the run, and on the active strap, you place this little white cord, that is VERY strong, on to the Trigger shark locking system. This active strap technology on the Leki Micro Trail Pro Trekking Poles allows an ultrarunner, mountain runner, or any trail runner, more leverage while pushing down and back up with their arm. This active strap technology is a game changer for me! Since I have some ok upper body strength, I think this feature on the Leki Micro Trail Pro Trekking Poles is going to finally maximize my upper body strength while running uphill and downhill. This active strap on the Leki Micro Trail Pro Trekking Poles creates a POWERFUL connection between your arm strength and the mountain you are climbing or descending. There is simple handling and fast adjustment on the active strap. This creates a postive effect on your trail running, alipine running, and ultrarunning forward movement, especially late in a long training run or late in a long trail race. It is wise to use these Leki Micro Trail Pro Trekking Poles on tough uphill terrain, but also on the downhills when your legs are completely shot from the downhill pounding, which usually causes your quads to scream at you late in all day efforts. Once again, I do believe that running with poles is going to be a game changer for my ultrarunning efforts moving forward. For any ultrarunning rookie out there who is looking into buying trekking poles that are specifically designed for runners, I would strongly recommend the Leki Micro Trail Pro Trekking Poles, even after just one use out on the trails.
