The Eastern Slope of Cumbres Pass: the final frontier. These are the voyages of that bloody orange Subaru. Its 2023 mission: to explore strange new angles; to seek out new shots and new viewpoints; to boldly go where no railfan has gone before! Okay, so we're not on some sort of star trek... But we're gonna focus only on the eastern side of Cumbres Pass. One that most don't dwell on, as the west slope is inarguably the greatest single show of railroading in all of North America if not the world. Yes, it's even more impressive than the Horseshoe Curve of the Durango and Silverton. We watch as the diminutive train leaves Colorado's San Luis Valley south of Alamosa from the hamlet of Antonito and climbs out of the valley of the Rio Grande north of Taos New Mexico as it follows the historic route of the Denver and Rio Grande Western as it skirts the edge of La Manga Pass and crosses the Continetnal Divide Trail at Cumbres Pass. We'll leave Yard Limits, literally, the establishing shot features one of @YardLimit's many marks on the railroad with the giant Y made with a rail and sheet metal, he leaves those things everywhere. So no need to look for that distant signal as we're not delayed in block due to there's no signals on this narrow gauge. There's no Coaster to Fan over along this line, so enjoy.
