Imagine a thin, sensitive coating paper where everything that touches the surface leaves a trace. This is ‘Naturantypie’, an image-making technique developed by artist Maximilian Prüfer. It’s so sensitive that it can reveal the footprints of ants, the trails of snails and the moment rain lands on it. These normally invisible reminders of life are awe-inspiring and for Maxmilian a chance to celebrate nature and remind us to protect it - no matter how big or small. Maximilian studied Design and Communication Strategy at HS Augsburg and Fine Arts at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna in Italy. His work investigates natural processes and translates them into visual form, exploring existential and ecological questions about evolution and the relationship between humans and nature. A central element of his practice is Naturantypie, a technique he developed to record the movements and traces of insects as well as other natural phenomena. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
