Lincoln parkrun 15th Feb 2025 ❤️ Valentines Edition ❤️ Sorry, this is a blast from the past. There is a backlog of Lincoln parkfuns to edit and post onto YooToob, from Feb to Sep 2025. This is the first: Enjoy! As usual, anyone who doesn't want to be on, for any reason (none required 🙂 ), please just let me know. Quite a cold one! It's actually the day after Valentine's, but that didn't hold back Andy 😃 https://www.parkrun.org.uk/lincoln/re... It’s simple, just be nice. This weekend a few of our visitors told me just how friendly Lincoln parkrun is. We often get told this because it’s true, and I’d guess that we’re one of the friendliest parkruns but also recognise that I may be just a tiny bit biased. I saw this picture on the back of a van and realised that it’s a really good way of approaching life. Even more because, like life, none of us are a perfect picture, we’re all a bit grubby from our life experiences and have the odd stain that we’ve picked up on the way through life. But despite being a bit rough round the edges (everybody is), if we try our best to “just be nice”, we make our parkrun, then our community, then who knows where, a bit better place. For years our community had a simple but brilliant focus… ‘Doris’, the Mum and Nana of some of our runners. She made it easy for us to focus on community, as waving to her every Saturday morning, visiting Boultham Park House at birthdays/Christmas and getting her to start parkrun on sunny days, was an easy way to open our community wider than the park. Tourists visiting from far and wide asked about her and she became a bit of a local celebrity, with Jim Diamond shouting every week at the top of his lungs “Wave to Doris” or “bless you all” and, it seemed normal for us to ‘just be nice’. Unfortunately we’ve now lost both Doris and Jim but we thrive on that friendly and supportive feeling. So the next time you’re having a bad day, we’ll be your safe place on a Saturday morning, it could be hot or cold, wet or dry, stormy or calm, but we’ll be there for you because at Lincoln parkrun, we seem to find it so easy to… ‘just be nice’ Andy, RD Milestones: 25 - Charlie SEWED, Ryan MULHOLLAND 50 - Malcolm ONEILL, Martin ANDREWS Visitors: Newark, Doncaster
