Ubud, Bali. Saturday, 22 November 2025. A calm and refreshing morning walk in Ubud, exploring one of Bali’s most charming cultural hubs. Today, we start our walk from the southern end of Hanoman Street, then cross over to Monkey Forest Street. The morning traffic in Ubud is already busy, with scooters and cars passing through, yet there aren’t many people walking along the pedestrian paths. Many shop owners on Monkey Forest Street are still preparing to open their stores for the day, and the monkeys themselves seem to still be fast asleep inside their forest sanctuary. We then turn right into an alternative route—Bisma Street. This road connects Monkey Forest Street with the western part of Ubud Main Road, but only motorbikes can pass through the southern end toward Monkey Forest Street, while cars must turn back. Bisma Street may not be as popular as the other main roads in Ubud, but it has its own charm. The street is lined with cosy cafés and restaurants that are generally more affordable compared to the rest of Ubud. What was once a stretch of rice fields has now transformed into a mix of villas, boutique hotels, and eateries catering to travellers from around the world.
