WHAT IS QI GONG? - Taking advantage of the body's unconscious stress reduction mechanisms. Making them conscious and intentional to manually reduce stress from the nervous system when we need to. Slow movement and relaxation - the opposite of fight or flight or freeze. Not tight or fast or locked. ----------- I have decided to record some simple seated Qi Gong based flows to facilitate calming the mind, energising the body and healing. Note : please start at the beginning and watch this linked video first as it gives the background on what this series is about and what it can do for you : • Seated Qi Gong and Breath Work - Start he... If you can get outside and preferably bare foot, with feet on the grass then fantastic. If inside then that is great too. Repeat this every day and once you have done it a few times you can access different movements when needed through your day-to-day life. Intentional breathing in good posture with some movement is a winning combination. Also worth noting is this is all about making progress. That is the reason I called this 'One Breath at a Time' as we can get better with each breath, when we put our minds to it. Practice makes progress. Progression over perfection every time. Let me know how you get on. tom@qigongwithtom.com Just for some background on me and how I found Qi Gong and why I have created this series; Hi, I’m Tom — a Qi Gong teacher, health coach, and dad living on the island of Menorca. In 2017, I experienced a life-changing stroke caused by a brain haemorrhage while hiking in South Africa. Recovery was long and humbling, but it led me to Qi Gong — a practice that helped me rebuild not just my body, but my focus, energy and sense of calm. Since then, I’ve made it my mission to share simple, powerful flows that anyone can follow — even from a chair. This series, One Breath at a Time, is for anyone wanting to feel more grounded, energised and present — whether you’re recovering from illness, easing back into movement, or just looking for a moment of calm in your day.
