Hearing of the Appeal - BZCR2025/001 The King v Leonard Nunez and Hallet King

This is an appeal from the Crown of Belize against the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which ultimately quashed the Respondents’ convictions for manslaughter following a jury trial in July 2019. The Crown submitted that the Court erred in finding that the trial judge did not properly direct the jury on the requisite intention for the offence of manslaughter, as well as failed to consider whether the case was fit for the application of the proviso in section 216 (1) of the Senior Courts Act.
