Ep.218: Discussing Neurodiversity, Neuro-inclusion, Leadership and the Future of Work, with Grant Harris | Leadership Podcasts Leadership isn't a straight line; so why do we keep trying to lead that way? Have you ever felt stuck trying to navigate a non-linear path to success? In reality, effective leadership is complex, messy, and full of pivots, just like human brains. Trying to force a straight-line approach ignores the diversity in how people think, communicate, and operate. Which is why this week on Leading with Integrity, I'm talking with Grant Harris, about the complexities of leadership and the importance of embracing neurodiversity in the workplace. We discuss neuroinclusion and the future of work, the nature of leadership, how it goes beyond strategy and vision, incorporating emotional and cultural intelligence. The discussion also examines the impact of isolation and loneliness and the biases & stigmas surrounding neurodiversity. Grant advocates for a shift in perspective, he challenges common misconceptions about neurodiversity, asserting that it is not a "problem to be fixed" but a valuable aspect of diverse thinking that can enhance organizational performance. He urges leaders to ask questions and engage with their teams to foster more inclusive environments. Leaders often assume there's a single best way to move forward, but that mindset can cause inefficiencies and burnout. Instead, embracing a flexible, curious, and questioning approach helps us meet others where they are. It’s not just about strategy and vision (I'm still thinking about this but, I'm not sure it's even about these at all...) but it is about understanding the human side of leadership: culture, EQ, communication, empathy. Ask yourself: Am I truly listening? Am I accommodating different ways of thinking? Or am I unconsciously reinforcing these biases? Are you ready to rethink leadership as a human experience, not a linear process? Lots of thanks to Grant for an engaging, honest, and thought-provoking conversation this week, there's a trailer below and here are the links to the full episode too: 📺 Watch now, on YouTube: • Ep.218: Discussing Neurodiversity, Neuro-i... 🎧 OR: Listen audio-only on your favourite podcast platform: https://smartlink.ausha.co/leading-wi... #Neurodiversity #InclusiveLeadership #LeadershipMindset #FutureOfWork #HumanCenteredLeadership #LeaderNotABoss #PodMatch #Leadership #LeadingWithIntegrity
