This Monthly LabCoP ECHO session focuses on strategies to improve HIV testing services and experiences from Malawi on the adoption of the WHO-recommended 3-test algorithm. WHO recommends all countries currently using two consecutive reactive tests to move toward using three consecutive reactive tests for an HIV-positive diagnosis. This is increasingly important as treatment-adjusted HIV prevalence and national HTS positivity continue to decline over time. It is suggested to conduct a verification study of the new testing algorithms in order to: 1. Identify the combination of products which have minimum possible common cross-reactivity. 2. Identify flexible algorithms. In this session, we share the adoption experience from Malawi and initiatives to improve general HTS with national-level monitoring and implementation of improvement strategies. We also hear from CQUIN on their HIV Testing Community of Practice about perspectives of dHTS quality. Presenters • Dr Violet Oramisi, Regional M&E Advisor, ICAP Multi-country Learning Network, CQUIN • Dr Rose Nyirenda, Director of the National Programme on HIV, Hepatitis, and STIs, Ministry of Health, Malawi
