It's very effective for calming the mind. You can do it on its own, separately from the 24 sequence. We are walking back and balancing our steps. The arms and hands are doing their jobs. There is no time for thinking, regretting or worrying. we become completely present in the here and now. I think of this this movement STEP BACK AND CALM THE MIND. Also, I think we can practice GIVING and RECEIVING in this movement because of how our hands and arms move. Some of us are very good at giving bit not so good at receiving kindness from others. We can practice and feel giving and receiving and realize that giving and receiving are Yin and Yang, inherently interconnected. Another way to think of this movement is like we are stepping back in time and correcting something that we want to correct. It's totally possible on the spiritual level. Practice this movement every day and enjoy a calmer mind!
