Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota is one that gets left of many lists due to its location. There isn't a whole lot of additional places to visit in this area of North Dakota so you have to specifically plan this park. With a little planning and research you'll find that Theodore Roosevelt National Park has a LOT to offer in addition to the other area attractions at the South Unit. The South Unit is located in Medora, North Dakota just off Interstate 94. The area is extremely seasonal but you can certainly make an entire vacation out of the town. Many of the shops and attractions were still closed on our visit but we were able to take in a bit of the local flavor. The park itself provides ample opportunities for hiking and watching wildlife. The park is full of bison, prairie dogs and wild horses that are sure to great you around just about every corner. The North Unit is just over an hour drive but was unfortunately mostly closed during our visit. Be sure to check out the Cannonball Concretions though!!!!!!!
