In this video coach John Shepherd (http://www.johnshepherdfitness.com/blog) takes a look at the early season training that you could be doing to improve your long and triple jump and sprint performance. He takes you with him to a couple of training sessions and explains why his group is doing certain exercises. You'll see that the sessions are based on units of drills and that each has a specific theme. In the main session covered you'll see four such units - which cover: basic drills, acceleration, plyometrics and tempo work. In another session you'll see some take-off drills and also get an insight into Triphasic (multi-action jump and weights training). These workouts would suit any horizontal jumper and short sprinter, looking to get off to a specific start to the training year. In may ways training is more about what you don't do, rather than what you do do.
