Another delightful walk of 11.7 miles through the East Herts countryside on a now classic 'Maypril' day. Setting out from the car-park at Chells Park, the walker is soon into the countryside and, after a bit of lane walking, following familiar paths (from last year's Walkern Circular) to the delightful village of Benington. Lunch is had here at the church of St Peter, amongst the Wild Garlic! Thereafter, it's more familiar paths before leaving these just after Banfield Wood. Re-entering the wood, a wonderful spread of Bluebells awaits. Then, another section of delightful woodland walking in Comb's Wood before more field crossings to Walkern Road. This is quite busy, so caution is needed on this section, and that into Aston. This was a very good day's walking in a county that this walker doesn't rate too highly for variety. Such 'pockets' are few and far between, so this is one to enjoy. Particularly with the Bluebells out and the showers holding off. N.B. Listen to the wonderful bird-song whilst the jets are absent. One positive of the 'Lock Down'.
