This speech is about identity, exclusion and self-acceptance. Rachel Linton, the speaker, describes growing up between two cultures, American and Korean, feeling that she did not fully belong in either one. At her international school, her appearance and English mistakes made her a target of bullying, which caused deep pain. However, instead of continuing to hide, she found confidence through Korean class, where she embraced the part of herself she truly understood. By leading a presentation on Korean independence activists, she discovered her own strength and gained respect from others. In the end, the speech shows that belonging should not depend on other people’s approval. Its main message is that being different is not a weakness, and our lives should be shaped by our own choices, not by others’ judgments. Rachel Linton is an ambitious 6th grade student with a strong sense of determination. She began debating only a few months ago, but quickly showed her potential by participating in a debate tournament and earning the Best Speaker award. Rachel does not give up easily and believes that perseverance is one of the most important keys to growth. Through debate, she has learned how to speak with confidence, think critically, and express her ideas clearly. She is excited to continue challenging herself and developing her skills through future opportunities.
