My version of the quick and easy recipe for steamed BBQ pork buns. Fluffy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Perfect snack any time or for any occasion. Steamed BBQ pork buns recipe Ingredients for dough 2/3 Cup (157.73ml) Warm water (110°F or 43.3°C) 2 Teaspoons (9.86ml) Instant yeast 2 Tablespoons (29.57ml) Sugar 1 Tablespoon (14.79ml) Canola oil 1-1/2 Cups (354.88ml) All purpose flour 1 Teaspoon (4.93ml) kosher salt 1/4 Teaspoon (1.23ml) baking soda Ingredients for filling 1-3/4 Cup (414.03ml) Barbecued pork (diced) For BBQ pork recipe: • Barbecued Pork and Ribs Recipe Chinese Sty... 1/4 Cup (59.15ml) Jumbo onion (Finely diced) 1/2 Tablespoon (7.39ml) Oyster sauce 1/2 Tablespoon (7.39ml) Hoisin sauce 1/4 Teaspoon (1.23ml) Sesame oil 1/2 Teaspoon (2.46ml) Sugar 1/2 Teaspoon (2.46ml) White pepper powder (oops...forgot in video) 5 Tablespoon (79.93ml) Water 1/2 Tablespoon (7.39ml) Corn starch + 1/2 Tablespoon (7.39ml) Water mix for thickener Directions: 1. In a small bowl, whisk together water, yeast and sugar until dissolves. Let sit for 4 to 6 minutes to foam. Stir in oil and set aside. 2. In a larger bowl, mix in flour, salt and baking soda. Add in yeast mixture and mix. Knead and add in more flour if too sticky...1 tablespoon at a time until smooth and not sticky. 3. Continue to knead on a floured surface till smooth. Cover with warm cloth and let dough rest for 1-1/2 to 2 hours. 4. Heat wok and add oil. Put in onions and cook till translucent. 5. Put in barbecued pork and cook till hot. 6. Add in rice wine, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, sugar, white pepper powder and water. 7. Add corn starch and water mixture to thicken sauce. 8. Put in refrigerator to cool. 9. Flatten dough and roll into a long log. Portion to 12 dough balls and let rest for 5 minutes covered. 10. Flatten balls and roll out to 4" diameters. Be sure to leave the center with more dough. 11. Put in a tablespoon of pork and follow video instruction on how to fold. 12. Line steamer bottom with parchment paper and place buns in steamer. 13. Steam for 7 to 9 minutes. 14. Let them sit for 10 minutes covered. 15. Serve immediately.
