In this video, I share my real-life health transformation story — from being an overweight, tired GP to a healthy, energised plant-based Ironman triathlete. I’m Dr Zain, a GP in Scotland with nearly 25 years of medical experience and a qualified Lifestyle Medicine physician. A few years ago, I was on the road to ill health. I weighed 119.5kg, was snoring loudly, sleeping in the spare room, drinking too much, and setting a poor example for my two kids. My diet was full of processed foods, animal products, and refined carbs. I knew better — but like many, I was stuck in unhealthy habits. Then I changed everything. I adopted a whole-food, plant-based diet, started sleeping earlier, cut out alcohol and harmful substances, and began therapy to work on my mindset. The results? I lost over 27kg, my blood pressure normalised, my resting heart rate dropped to 49, and I no longer snored. More importantly, I rediscovered vitality and balance — and went on to complete two Ironman triathlons. This isn’t a sob story — it’s about credibility and hope.
