In this video you'll learn how to decorate a Wood Birdhouse, Nesting Box, or Bird Feeder using a few paper napkins and a technique called decoupage. This is fun, easy creative project suitable for children, teens and adults. A fun project for the garden! This basic crafting video introduces how to decoupage wood for home interior decor, or for the garden. If putting outside, please seal it with a clear wood varnish before placing outdoors. Materials needed for this project include: Wood bird box, or nesting box, or feeder (or any wood item). Glue such as PVA glue, Elmer's, or basic non-toxic glue. Optional: mod podge an be used instead of PVA glue. Small paint brush, to apply glue. Approx 3 napkins with a design you like (1-ply napkins*), and scissors. Damp cloth such as paper towel or kitchen role to wipe glue off paint brush / fingers. *1 ply Napkins - most napkins are 2-ply or 3-ply. Pull apart at the corners, to make a 1-ply napkin for this project. Cut decorations our of the napkin to apply to your project. You don't need to paint your bird box, but you can either colour wash or paint it before applying your napkin decoupage - this is optional. The bird box in this video was colour washed with a watered down primer. Once completing your decoupage and it is completely dry, for extra protection, you should apply a clear wood varnish and let it dry before putting outside. This will protect your napkin decoupage against the outside elements. This project is easy and simple to make with a little practice. Only a few items needed to make this project! This is a great crafting project for children's parties, spring decor, or to decorate a conservatory/sun room, or outdoor space. Save money too by making your own! Recuse and recycle where possible.
