Stir gently, cover, and let sit for about 15–20 minutes, until foamy. 2️⃣ Mix the dough In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Make a well in the center. Add the yeast mixture, remaining sugar, and softened butter. 3️⃣ Knead Mix until a dough forms, then knead by hand or with a stand mixer for 5–10 minutes, until smooth and elastic. 4️⃣ First rest Cover and let the dough rest for 30 minutes. 5️⃣ Shape Form the dough into a loaf by rolling it tightly from one side to the other. Place into a greased sandwich pan (13x4” / 2.2 lb capacity). 6️⃣ Second rise Let the dough rise for 30–45 minutes, or until doubled in size. 7️⃣ Bake Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush with egg wash and bake for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake another 15–20 minutes, until golden and baked through. 8️⃣ Finish Brush with melted butter immediately after baking for a soft, glossy crust. Cool before slicing. 👉 Pro tip: slicing too early releases steam and can make the bread gummy. 🍅 Homemade Tomato Soup Ingredients • Olive oil • 1 medium sweet onion, chopped • 1 medium red onion, chopped • 1 garlic clove, minced • 1 tsp salt • ¼ tsp pepper • 1 tsp onion powder • 2 tsp paprika • ¼ cup roasted red pepper (jarred) or 1 fresh red pepper • Splash of white wine • 26.5 oz (750g) finely chopped tomatoes • Basil or oregano, to taste Instructions 1️⃣ Heat olive oil in a pot over medium-high heat. Sauté chopped onions and garlic for a few minutes. 2️⃣ Stir in salt, pepper, onion powder, paprika, and roasted red pepper. 4️⃣ Deglaze with a splash of white wine and let it simmer for 1–2 minutes. 5️⃣ Add chopped tomatoes and herbs. Simmer for 15–20 minutes to develop flavor. 6️⃣ Blend using an immersion blender until smooth. 👉 Adjust salt to taste. If the soup tastes slightly acidic, stir in 1 tablespoon of sugar to balance the flavors. 🧀 Ultimate Grilled Cheese (Per Sandwich) Ingredients • 2 slices sandwich bread (¾” thick) • 1 tbsp butter and olive oil • 2–3 oz or 3 slices (90g) cheese (Havarti, Gouda, Muenster, Cheddar, Fontina) A blend melts better than a single cheese. 1️⃣ Butter the bread Spread ½ tablespoon butter on one side of each slice.
