Description Engineering leaders need to adopt new and evolving strategies to ensure project success in today’s technologically, fast-paced business environment. The implementation of change throughout an organization requires recognition and effective implementation of new strategic processes. Effective engineering leaders require management skills in many diverse areas, e.g., understanding and effectively working with personnel, staff, and clients; managing communications; collaboration; and implementing advances in engineering and digital technologies. The introduction of change can be challenging for both implementation and management. This webinar will provide insight into how to successfully maneuver in today’s engineering market and a toolbox of skills for leaders to recognize and possess to successfully overcome barriers to changes. Keeping in mind that barriers to change will not be typical or readily predictable in all areas of an organization or across organizations, but the approach to address these barriers is similar. This session will also address effective change for leadership at the various leadership levels of an organization. Leaders understand that resources are limited and this webinar will address the various tools and skills that will help leaders learn how to more effectively address and remove barriers to change in a timely fashion while being mindful of resource requirements and limitations. This webinar will also present parameters and measures of successful engineering leadership change that can be readily applied and used to track outcomes and to provide effective corrective measures through lessons learned. Linda Ratsep, P.E., has over forty-one years of experience as a consulting civil engineer. In addition to earning a Master of Business Administration degree (Drexel University), she possesses an undergraduate (University of New Hampshire) and graduate (Villanova University) degrees in civil engineering. Linda is a professional engineer in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. In 1995, Linda co-founded an environmental science and civil engineering firm (The Ratsep Group, Inc.), where she is a Principal. Linda has extensive experience in designing, managing, and completing public-sector (federal agencies, state agencies, townships) and private-sector (utility companies, developers) projects. Technical areas of expertise include environmental engineering; site development of residential, commercial, industrial, and recreational facilities; municipal engineering; and airport engineering. Since 2005, Linda has served as senior faculty for the Master of Civil Engineering (MCE) program at Norwich University, teaching Project Management and Geographic Information Systems courses, and since 2016 as the MCE Program Coordinator.
