OVERVIEW: Many clients with an anxiety disorder or OCD spend years in treatment without meaningful improvement—not because they’re “treatment resistant,” but because these disorders are often misunderstood and inadvertently reinforced in care. This training is designed to close that gap. In this 2-part virtual workshop, attendees will gain a practical, research-informed understanding of anxiety disorders and OCD, with a specific focus on how these conditions function, how they differ from one another, and how to make informed clinical decisions about what helps, and what harms. OBJECTIVES: Participants will... • Gain an understanding of the nature of OCD and anxiety, as well as hallmark features to look for when identifying. • Learn about evidence-based care for OCD and anxiety, how and why it works, and how to help clients navigate treatment resources in the community. • Walk away with an actionable list of dos and don'ts for supporting someone through OCD and anxiety recovery. PRESENTER: Kate Rogers, Ph.D. BIO: Dr. Rogers is a licensed psychologist and serves as the Director of Research and Outcomes at OCD Anxiety Centers. She received her doctoral training in clinical psychology at American University, and developed specialties in the treatment of anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, and body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs). Dr. Rogers has worked with OCD Anxiety Centers since 2016, holding direct clinical, training, and quality assurance/compliance roles. As Director of Research and Outcomes, she collects and analyzes data to improve clinical outcomes, and collaborates with universities and researchers across the country to help close the gap between science and practice.
