Block Convention Tutorial | Episode 7: Group Discussions & Closing Session | MECDM | 2024

This is Episode 7 of the Block Convention Tutorial series under the Meghalaya Early Childhood Development Mission (MECDM). In this episode, we cover the Group Discussions and Closing Session—a key part of the Block Convention format that helps facilitators connect with the community, understand local realities, and build community ownership for early childhood development. The group discussions aim to: • Understand community perspectives on existing local structures and services • Strengthen community involvement in implementing the ECD Mission • Build awareness of convergent service delivery across Social Welfare, Health, Education, and Community & Rural Development • Reinforce that communities are key partners in sustaining nurturing care and local support systems for children and families Group composition and process: Each discussion group includes a facilitator and note taker, along with community representatives and frontline functionaries—typically the Headman, a VEC member, VHC member, VO member, AWW, ASHA, and CGHA cadres. Block officials may join for observation and support.
