In this video, I talk about how you can productively use easy sets (sets further than 6 or so reps from failure). While on per-set basis these "easy" sets are not as potent for stimulating strength, muscle, and overall fitness, they can be used strategically to dramatically improve the potency of the harder sets in your program. Moreover, they are appropriate at all levels of training. For beginners, they are a great way to approach building basic work capacity, joint conditioning, and familiarity with exercise. For intermediates, they allow for a ton of high quality practice that can improve form, technique, neurological efficiency, and stimulate very quick gains in performance all while managing fatigue. For advanced trainees, they can serve as active recovery while still allowing for practice, resensitization, and fitness maintenance.
