(Please note: The keyword I mentioned in this video doesn't work on Youtube, only on Facebook!) Hi friends, Debbie here from Refresh Restyle! In today’s video, my daughter Jenny (from Just Jenny) is in the studio crafting the cutest woodland goose decor—perfect for the porch goose trend, spring decorating, nurseries, and farmhouse style lovers. She paints with chalk paste, builds a crisp polka dot background using a reusable transfer, and layers everything on an oval scallop wood frame for a clean, high-contrast look you can display on a stand, hang with jute, or pop on the wall with Command strips. What you’ll see in this tutorial How to paint with chalk paste (thinned with a spritz of water for smooth, even coverage) Creating a polka dot background with a Chalk Couture Club transfer over Eucalyptus paste Fuzzing a transfer and lightly waxing a surface to prevent paint pull-up and bleeding Squeegee pressure tips so paste doesn’t ooze under the stencil A soft, “watercolor” bow using Peachy Keen for a pretty pop of color Assembly tips with Titebond vs hot glue and easy display options Supplies and colors Jenny used Wood cutouts: Woodland Wonders set (goose featured; set also includes bear, fox, bunny, squirrel, frog, and more) Frame: Oval Scallop Frame, smaller size (approx. 5x7” opening) Transfers: Club background with polka dots/plaid (using polka dots in this project) Chalk paste colors: Eucalyptus (background), Bright White (dots and frame), Storm (goose details), Peachy Keen (bow) Tools and extras: Squeegees, paintbrushes, spray bottle with water, fuzzing cloth, surface wax, Titebond glue (or hot glue), stand or jute/Command strips for display, heat tool/dryer Pro tips from the video Thin thick paste with a few drops of water so it glides on like paint and dries smooth. Lightly wax painted surfaces before stenciling; it helps transfers release cleanly and protects your painted base. Don’t press too hard with the squeegee—firm, even pressure is all you need for crisp dots and clean details. Work in larger sections with a bigger squeegee on wide designs to avoid paste drying in the screen. For a soft bow, dilute Peachy Keen on a palette and build color in light layers—think “color wash,” not full coverage. Why you’ll love this project On-trend porch goose vibes in a charming, easy-to-display size Beginner-friendly but polished enough for gifts or seasonal vignettes Customizable palette—swap Eucalyptus/White for neutrals or brights to match your decor The Woodland Wonders set gives you multiple animals for coordinating pieces across a gallery wall or mantel If you enjoyed crafting along with us, tap Like and Subscribe for more DIY home decor, Chalk Couture projects, and wood cutout ideas.
