5K running has officially taken over my life, and today’s outdoor run completely changed the game. As a beginner runner in 5K training, this was the first time I stepped off the treadmill — and I’m not going back. I’m now home in Connecticut, and since my treadmill isn’t set up yet, I decided to take my training outside for the first time. It was 42 degrees, windy, and honestly the perfect day to push myself beyond my comfort zone. I layered up the best I could — long sleeve base layer, neon shirt for visibility, long johns under my shorts — and headed out into the cold. The moment I started running, I realized how different (and better!) outdoor running feels compared to the treadmill. The changing scenery, the elevation shifts, and the fresh air made the miles feel more natural and enjoyable. I also started using the Nike Run Club app to track my pace, heart rate, distance, and route. It made the run feel more structured and motivating. Plus, this was another day breaking in my new Nike Vomero 18s — they’re starting to feel more natural with each mile. We’re officially 11 days away from my first ever 5K race, and every run feels like a big step forward. Thanks for following along this journey with me — one run at a time!
