The Mackie Mix8 is a much smaller and less featured mixing board than the 1202-VLZ, and this makes it an excellent piece of equipment to demonstrate how an intentional approach to feedback mixing can take advantage of a more constrained instrument. Almost all of the previously documented techniques can apply to the Mix8, and I think the results can still be quite dynamic and interesting. This video is part of a series on my approach to the no-input mixing board as a standalone instrument. You can watch all the videos in this series here: • The No-Input Mixing Board: Instrument... As is always the case with feedback instruments, please be careful to protect your ears and equipment if you're going to try experimenting with the NIMB. Don't plug your headphones or speakers directly into the mixing board, and it's best to use something like a limiter in order to set a maximum possible loudness for the output. 0:00 Introduction 0:36 Safety Precautions 1:29 Mix8 Overview 2:07 Using CR as the Instrument Output 2:38 Treating the Mix8 as a Mono Instrument 2:57 Aux Send Feedback Loop 5:06 Main Left & Right Feedback Loops 5:55 Panning for Isolated Feedback Loops 7:24 Cool Sounds! 8:35 Noise Channels 11:14 Channel Pinging 13:05 Conclusion 13:38 More Sounds!
