This video shows Ken’s Initial Physical Assessment as part of the Empowered Ageing Case Study. This is his baseline movement evaluation, recorded before beginning the structured training phase. The purpose of this assessment is not to judge performance, but to establish a clear, objective, and respectful starting point. ⸻ 🔍 What is being assessed? Ken was evaluated using a structured combination of: • Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB) • Senior Fitness Test (SFT) components • Functional strength tasks • Balance and gait assessment • Coordination and agility exercises • Floor mobility and get-up transitions These assessments examine: • Balance and postural control • Walking speed and functional mobility • Lower-body strength • Shoulder and hip mobility • Coordination and neuromotor response • Confidence during movement transitions Some tests are internationally recognised scientific tools. Others are part of the Empowered Ageing functional methodology. ⸻ 🎯 Why record this? Recording the baseline allows us to: • Compare progress at 3 and 6 months • Objectively measure improvement • Adjust training intelligently • Demonstrate that the body remains adaptable and capable of learning at any age Progress will always be compared with Ken’s own starting point, never with others. ⸻ ▶️ What comes next? Upcoming videos will document: • Training sessions and movement development • Short reflections • Reassessment comparisons at 3 and 6 months This project is not about perfection. It is about process, consistency, and dignity in movement. ⸻ 🌱 About Empowered Ageing Empowered Ageing supports people to: • Move safely and intelligently • Improve strength, balance, coordination, and mobility • Rebuild confidence in their body • Maintain independence and quality of life 🔗 Website: https://www.empoweredageing.eu 🔗 Facebook: / empoweredageingalgarve 🔗 Instagram: / empoweredageingalgarve ⸻ Thank you for following this real movement journey. #EmpoweredAgeing #HealthyAgeing #FunctionalAssessment #ActiveAgeing #MovementForLife #StrengthAndBalance #MobilityTraining #FallPrevention #MovementCoach #CaseStudy #LongevityMovement
