Day 7 of our rider fitness challenge and the focus is back on the hips! Let’s do a final round of exercise block 1 to improve hip mobility. You already know the flow. Do you notice that the exercises are becoming more fluid? Most people feel differences between their left and right-hand side when doing these exercises. Do you feel the same? But now back to the challenge: Let's go! Exercise 1: 90/90 seat with heel lift and hip pendulum Sitting position with a 90-degree angle in both legs. Alternate between lifting the back heel and swinging the back leg forward until it is extended. Improves the flexibility and mobility of the hip joints and promotes fine control for smooth hip movements in the saddle. Exercise 2: Pigeon stretch variation Alternating stretching of the hip flexors and gluteal muscles in a pigeon pose. Increases the flexibility of the hip muscles and reduces tension in the hip area to allow the rider to go with the movements of the horse. Exercise 3: Cossack stretch & world's greatest stretch Wide sideways stretch followed by a deep lunge with subsequent stretching of the hamstrings and gluteal muscles. Improves hip mobility and stretches the lower extremities for a deeper and more flexible seat in the saddle with long legs for dressage.
