This is a traditional treacle sponge pudding recipe and it is truly delicious. A simple treacle pudding recipe just like it was back at school dinners. It's made with golden syrup and has more golden syrup drizzled over it. Here is a list of the ingredients used and the method of baking. 200g / 7oz Golden syrup. 0.42 170g / 6oz Self Raising Flour 0.08 1 tsp Baking Powder 0.03 3 Eggs 0.42 150ml Veg Oil 0.24 80g / 2.8oz Sugar 0.09 1 tsp Vanilla Extract 0.12 Total cost 1.40 6 servings at 0.23 each. In a bowl beat the eggs and then add the oil and vanilla extract and whisk. Add the sugar and 150g of the golden syrup and whisk to a creamy consistency. Add the flour and baking powder and combine. Then whisk to a smooth consistency. Put the mixture in a pudding basin and cover the top with a layer of greased greaseproof paper and then a layer of tin foil and tie to the basin with some string. Put another length of string under the basin and tie at the top. Place the basin in a large pan on a baking rack to keep it from sitting on the bottom of the pan. Fill the pan with boiling water to about halfway up the basin. Cover and simmer for One and a half to two hours. When the pudding is cooked, turn it out of the basin and drizzle with the remaining golden syrup. Treacle sponge pudding is a delicious dessert recipe. Simple to make and a real old school recipe.
