Citron or Heralekaayi in kannda - Gojju or tamarind gravy and Mosaru Rasa or Yoghurt curry are traditional and authentic Iyengar households recipes .These are my amma's recipes which are mandatory when we get citrons or herelekaayi. Recently I got these farm fresh citron and here sharing the recipes with you all. Do try them and enjoy with hot rice and ghee The quantity of tamarind and jaggery /sugar used in these recipes totally depend on the sourness of citron Let's see how I prepared: Heralekaayi or Citron - Gojju or tamarind gravy and Mosaru Rasa or Yoghurt curry For making Citron Gojju or Tamarind gravy : Tamarind small lemon size Citron or Heralekaayi 2 Coconut oil 2 tbsp Mustarrd seeds 1 tsp Jeera 1 tsp Red chillies 2-3 Hing a pinch Curry leaves few Haldi 1/2 tsp Rasam powder 2 tbsp Jaggery 2 small pieces Citron juice 2-3 tbsp (Check accordingly and add) Coriander leaves handful For making Mosaru Rasa or Yoghurt curry For grinding: Coconut grated 1 cup Green chillies 2-3 Ginger small piece Coriander leaves few Yoghurt 1 cup Sugar 1 tsp Citron juice 3-4 tbsp For tempering: Coconut oil 1 tsp Mustard seeds 1 tsp Jeera 1 tsp Red chillies 1-2 Curry leaves few Method : For making Citron Gojju or Tamarind gravy: Soak Tamarind in hot water and keep it aside Wash and dry Citron Cut them into half and squeeze the juice and keep i0t aside Chop the Citron into small pieces In a pan add Coconut oil, mustard seeds, jeera, red chilles, hing, and curry leaves Then add chopped Citron and haldi and saute for a minute Add tamarind water and allow it to boil Add water if required Once the Citron is cooked add rasam powder, salt and jaggery Let it boil and gravy becomes thick Check the sourness of tamarind and add Citron juice and allow it to boil Adjust salt and water as required Finally add finely chopped coriander leaves Tangy, Spicy and tasty Citron or Heralekaayi Gojju or tamarind gravy is now ready For Mosaru Rasa or Yoghury curry : Grind together the mentioned ingredients into smooth paste Add water to get pouring consistency Mix nicely Give tempering and finally add coriander leaves Little Spicy , tangy and little sweet Mosaru Rasa or Yoghurt curry is now ready Enjoy 👍 #citronrecipes #Citron #heralekaayi #gojju #mosarurasa #pressurecookerwhistlingflavour #easyrecipes #karnatakarecipes #traditionalrecipes
